Catholic High During The Holidays

Just realized I didn't post this entry, written almost a month ago!!! Here you go~

Meeting was @ 1pm. I arrived late @ 1o5pm. Hmm.. waited for a while, but nobody came. Nevermind, time for self-entertainment! Whipped out my mobile phone and took this great looking photo! heheheh! Sent an MMS to A & E. I even recorded a short audio clip, "Hello. Good afternoon. Have a nice day. Bye." Don't worry. Sometimes, if you feel like it, go and irritate someone. Who knows, maybe they need some irritation to de-stress? If they are not stressful, even better, go irritate them, at a lower risk.. haha!

After my meeting and medical appointment, headed to Catholic High School. No teachers familiar. It was past 6pm already. And, it's school holiday! Hmm.. nevermind, decided to walk around with Mr Z. That's him in the photo.

Cool, Cat High has a softball field! Wahaha! Why didn they have it during my time? Maybe I could have joined! Haiya! Sad thing is, no more soccer field. Still remember the soccer moments in Cat High. Soccer during recess, after school, before dinner. Basically, the field was botak (no grass) whole year round, and the 3 out of 4 basketball courts, and a hockey court were used for soccer! Soccer ruled Cat High! Now? Maybe not. Whatever....

Fences and fences everywhere.. Too many kinds of balls flying around. Students'... What were you thinking of? Yes, this is a boys school.. a lot.. but... i was referring to tennis balls, basketballs, softballs, soccer balls, ping pong balls, and many many balls.. kekeke..

As we advanced through Cat High, we didn't forget our main source of motivation during secondary school days.. Whitley girls! Heyhey... Yeah.. Whitley secondary school is besides Cat High, but nearer to primary school side. To prevent us from spending too much time looking at them during lessons? Hello... Don't you know primary school kids are as naughty as sec sch boys now?! Huh?! Anyway, Whitley students always pass through our schools to go for their PE lessons, and they never fail to attract a bunch of howling monkeys stretching their heads out of the windows! Haha..

On our way out, we realized the primary school gate was locked. Haven't climbed a gate for a long time. What the heck. Let's go!! :P

Singapore @ World Cup 2010. Or 2100?

Just watched the news. Couldn't help but shook my head in dismay.

Well... DPWN held a football tournament in Germany, alongside the World cup. Singapore sent in a team comprising S League and Prime league players, and yup, they lost all matches. Effendy Sabtu, the goalkeeper, commented that the Europeans players were very strong, but Singapore didn't get thrashed 6 nil or what. They only lost by about 1 goal. He went on to say that they went there without expecting to win.

What?! Is that the mentality of Singapore footballers?! How can they say or think like that? Can't deny that they were expecting tough opponents, but, c'mon.. You don't go there thinking you'll lose!! Negative thinking won't bring them far. They may not be the best, but they should fight hard too! Who knows what miracle they can produce right?!

In case you don't know, the winner, if I'm not wrong, is Team DHL Germany. Were you thinking of players like Ballack, Klose? No no no... Obviously, all worldcup players will be busy watchin matches, sleeping or kicking some balls at training ground. Many of the teams were made up of employees of DPWN.

Yeah~ So Singapore footballers are always thinking of losing matches. What a shame.

World cup for Singapore? Yes, the Singapore Dream Team can only dream about it. Goodnight~

Nature's Moment

In a book written by Robin S. Sharma, he advised everyone to enjoy nature at least once a week. Singapore is a garden city, so can I consider myself being close to nature everyday?

Just a stone's throw away from my house is a hill. Look, what a beautiful sight. Snapped this while waiting for my beef fried rice to be ready.

So, if this is not enought, then where do we go?

Hmm, Bukit Timah Hill? Been there too many times. How about Macritchie reservoir? OMG, I can fall asleep there! So, where?! Ah huh... let's go to HSBC Tree Top Walk! It's part of Macritchie Reservoir, so if you love Mac Reservoir, but sick of it, this tree top walk is like an extension to Mac!

We reached the main carpark at about 1015am. To get to the carpark, turn into Singapore Island Country Club from
Upper Thomson road, before Thomson Plaza if you are coming down from the North.

Welcome to the TreeTop Trail! But wait, don't be fooled.. Because...

You have to walk a bit... Not really a bit.. quite a distance, before you will reach the starting point of the bridge! Ok, we started our journey @ about 1025am.

Even though it's not near, do enjoy nature and have fun. Here we have 2 old kids, Mr ZQ and Miss Tan, having fun...

And then, it's back to reality...

If you're wondering... read this sign...

So, this is what we had came here for... Get some facts and figures before we meet the real stuff..

After slightly more than 30 minutes walk, the main gate to the bridge was in view, and it's time to float above the forest... Although it's only 250 meters, I couldn't see the end from here...

If you're afraid of heights, you can crawl your way across, while the blue net protects you.. This is how crawling across looks like...

While you're up there, do take a moment to breathe in some fresh air. Make sure your friend doesn't fart, or else.... Anyway, take your time to pose and take some nice photos like the 2 girls behind...

By the way, if you're more than 2 meters tall, this is how the view will look like from the bridge.. haha..

This is only recommended for people who aren't afraid of height, or those who wish to be superman... Wa.. Wish I could jump and slide down this tree...

Very nice bald tree here... I suspect it's for the vultures to camp on, while waiting for rotting corpse found on the bridge...

The same tree... Sorry, no vultures... only a friendly bug.. Can't see... look harder...

Okay okay... I shall help you a bit.. See that?

If you look far enough, you'll see the reservoir...

End of bridge, time to head back to the car park and make our way to Holland V for lunch!! So hungry... *_*

If you can't wait for lunch, have some delicious buns.. courtesy of Mr. ZQ... Not S. Q. ....

Be careful not to step on the butterflies outside Ranger's office...

It took slightly more than 2 hours for the whole thing. If you need more info, ask me. And remember, when you're in nature, take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints. Byebye!

Play As You Grow Wiser

3 Old kids.
Total age: Above 76
Fun Factor: * * * * * upon * * * * *

Went Sentosa a few weeks ago with 2 old kids, hoping to be an acrobat. No no no, not the Adobe Acrobat Reader! Who knows about the trapeze available for play at Sentosa? Heheh.. You must have seen it before and thought it's for the animal show right? Huh?! Since when did you and I perform animal shows for those ang mohs, Japanese, etc?! It's for us to pay and play!

However, to our dismay, it was closed! Yes, bloody closed! Nevermind, we proceeded to take a tram ride to play the Sentosa Luge! It was when we realized the staffs at Sentosa were really friendly and helpful! There happened to be a few staffs taking a lift on the tram, so we asked the driver and them, "Does this go to the luge?" They replied yeah! So we hopped on.

2 old kids and I chatted and chatted as the tram moved. Suddenly, I realized the tram wasn't moving, and someone was making a lot of noise! Hmm.. who?! "Look! Hello! Look! Hello! Look!"

OMG! The driver uncle was signalling to us! "Luge! Hello! Luge!".. Heheh.. He was waiting for us to alight. Wow.. I'm pretty impressed. "Walk 5 minutes there and you'll see it..", he continued as we alighted and waved goodbye to him! Excellent!

Not bad, a trip to Sentosa made me realized service in Singapore isn't so bad afterall. And some sacrifice the luge staffs had to go through. A beehive dropped near the area, and most of them were stung. So sad.

Anwway, we paid $15 for 3 rounds! Up the cable chair (or whatever you call it), and down by the luge! Cool! It was worth it! Ok, next time, I wanna fly kite! hahaha!

Fly high, float softly, see far, go fast!

Start, enjoy the journey, and finish the race!

Korea 2 - 1 Togo

대한민국 *clap-clap-clap-clap-clap*

The first Asian team to win a match at Worldcup 2006 so far! Well Down Korea! Will they carry on this fine run and advance to the next round? Let's keep our fingers crossed for them and all other Asian teams! Next match for Korea is against France on this coming Monday, 3am.

Reds or Blues?
Reds go Reds go together! 아자아자 화이팅!

Meanwhile, enjoy this Korea Worldcup MV by Buzz. There are various Korea WC songs, but I particularly like this one because it just sounds motivating! Enjoy this concert version for the extra "feel"...!

Ajahn Brahm

Attended 2 talks by Ajahn Brahm at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery.

It was absolutely fantastic. Went with 2 old kids, Miss Tan and Mr Z.

Talk was @ 745pm, but we arrived at slightly before 8pm. No more seats left, even floor was almost fully occupied. We sat on the stage. Thankfully, Ajahn Brahm started his talk at about 8pm.

That's him. All we could see was his back, but what was important were the messages. Many thanks to Miss Tan, who took notes during the talk.

Notes taken during talk. Not 100% exact, but idea is there. Thanks again, Miss Tan.

Downs of life

Whatever u dun like – learn the most fr it.

Life – fragile cup with a crack that requires care.

Strategy of life :

When thr is nothing to do, nothing. Relax (to the max).

when the difficult time comes, we’ll hv more energy to deal with it.

Life circumstances can change as well.

When thr is something to do, we give it all.

Down = Opportunity

e.g steve job was kick out of apple comp. he rested. After which he went back to biz and started another multi-million co, pixar.

Its thru the difficult time tt we really learn.

Up of life

Makes good time last longer.

When u make a mistake, learn to laugh at it.

The world never laughs at you, they only laugh with you.

Success may not make you happy. Happiness makes you successful.

We do not become successful first. We become happy first.

Happy pple gets along with their boss, clients, etc. happiness is the key to success.

When you learn to appreciate the ups of life, the good time last longer.

Sometimes we do not appreciate enough.

Appreciate our journey instead of complaining.

We’ve been thru so much together. Let’s go through more.

Do you visit the ‘garden of life’? Or do you visit the ‘waste dump of life’?

Metaphor : A positive mind? Or a fault finder?

Chicken farmer

When you collect, what do you collect : the shit or the eggs?

We only remember what went wrong.

When u think of your childhood, parents, life – what do you collect?

Positive pple collects the good stuff.

People gets depress cos they keep remembering their faults instead of their success.

Whenever u get depress, you become ‘up-press’.

Forgive. When you forgive, you are no longer the victim you thought you were."

Being a typical Singaporean, I went earlier the next day. I was there 1 hour 15 mins earlier to be exact. OMG, there were a handful earlier then me! Were they here last night?!! Managed to get a good seat.

Today, Miss Tan couldn't join us, so no notes. It's end of month, she had to work OT. Nevermind, Miss Tan (and anyone reading this) if you're reading this, here's the notes I took.

"Don't harm others. Don't harm yourself too."

That's it. What I could recall. And enough, in my opinion.

Oil Is War

Click above for surprises

I was watching the news and guess what?

Oil prices dropped to below $70 for the 1st time in 2 weeks. This is due to the death of Iraq's Al-Qaeda's leader. I don't really follow those terrorist news, but I was pretty surprised by this link. Apparently they have a habit of disrupting oil supplies in Iraq, so as to create trouble for the guys who are re-building Iraq. Hmm... How come the all the terrorists didnt get burnt while trying to sabotage the oil pipes?

However, a quick search on Google revealed that we should not be too happy yet! Why? Because those bastards aren't taking a break for good. They'll be back! They better don't do that kind of shitty stuffs anymore. They should go America and destroy all the fats around the donuts-munching policemen. They have as much oil as Iraq I guess. Or if they're so free, go Malaysia and help them harvest oil from the Oil Palm plantation.

No matter what they do, they better make sure oil prices don't go up anymore! I want to buy cheaper air tickets!! If not, I wish they'll just drown in oil and stop giving us headaches...

상두야, 학교가자! (Sang Du, Let's Go School!)

Recently, finished watching a Korean mini-series of 16 episodes. It's absolutely entertaining and worth my time, in my opinion. I didnt regret sleeping @ 5am everyday.

This drama stars Rain (비) and Gong Hyo Jin (공효진). It's about a love so deep that nothing, except a sick young girl, could destroy, almost. The lead actress isnt exactly a typical pretty Korean girl that seems to be featured in most Korean drama. However, her simple looks and chubby face managed to capture my heart. Maybe it's her character in this show that made her so loveable. She plays a young student who was forced to leave Nam Hae (南海) after her mum illegally kept some money and had to fled. Sang Du and her were lovers at that time, and they really loved each other. Too bad, something happened to him too, that's why she wasn't able to see him for the last time. To find out, you must watch. 10 years later, they met in Seoul. She's a teacher, he's a gigolo. In order to see her, and win her back, he returned to school. As what? Hmm.. You must watch to find out!

In a nutshell, it's a romantic, touching, sad, heart warming, at-times exaggerating, comedy. Not a boring ride. It takes you through a fast left turn, slow right turn, fast climb, slow/fast climb back down journey. As to whether it ends happy or sad. You must watch to find out. Just as I hate people to tell me ending of any show, I hate to disclose unless requested.

Btw, I really like the scenery at Nam Hae. I wonder did they really go there to film? Given a chance, I'd love to pay Nam Hae a visit, and try the raw fish there (if it really exists!). Also, I'm still waiting for a chance to find the tree on the mountain. Yes, that tree! The tree in "My Sassy Girl"! Where they buried the letter.

Oldies Goldies

3 old fools.
Total age: 76
Act cute index: * * out of * * * * * (Try harder!)

Had dinner with 2 old friends few weeks ago. Old, both age and friendship. Sometimes, it takes some things to happen before old friends will meet up.

I still remember last year, when a close neighborhood friend/schoolmate passed away. Someone commented, "It's so sad. Only when someone died, then will we have such a big gathering...".

Sad to say, good to know. So, if you're still thinking, planning, thinking, hoping, wishing, waiting, don't. Go and call up your friends now. Go have a cup of tea, coffee or if you're health conscious, a cup of green tea or chinese tea. You'll be glad you did.
